A bit about myself: I’m a second year medical student at Dalhousie University. When I’m not studying I try to relax with whatever I can (coffee with friends, getting a workout in, binge watching a TV series, etc.). In the summer though, most of my time is taken up with research, golf, and tennis. I’ve coached tennis for many years and find the act of coaching or mentoring extremely rewarding in whatever form it’s in. I’m currently one of three head coordinators of the Halifax chapter of Making Waves, and during my undergraduate I volunteered at various health-related organizations across the city. Applying to medical school is both an exciting and stressful time in life, so any little bit of encouragement and advice I can offer to alleviate that stress and increase your confidence is worth it!

Application experience: I applied to University of Toronto, Queen’s University, and Dalhousie University. I interviewed and was accepted to Dalhousie University on my first attempt after completing my B.Sc. (Combined Hons) in Biochemistry and Psychology.

  1. Hi Alex,

I just received my rejection letter from Dalhousie this morning, so I am in search of any guidance I can get for the next cycle application. I’m interested in getting guidance with my EC/Supplemental form and essays this summer. Beginning in September, I would like to start MMI coaching as well.

I just came across this website, so I am not quite sure how it works. Is there a set fee for each of these services?

    Thank you,

  2. Alex was great with providing general feedback regarding my CV, and tips for writing descriptions/ making my application stand out. He summarized all the things we talked about into an e-mail, which was great as I didn’t have to spend time making notes during the session. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for general advice regarding their application. Overall, I found this session reassuring and helpful.
