University of Calgary
I’m Annita, a non-traditional medical student and an enthusiastic MedCoach!
I moved to Canada from my native Brazil in 2013. Like many new Canadians before me, I discovered a deep motivation to make a positive mark on society. I decided to switch careers from journalism to the health care sector, with the dream of one day becoming a doctor. Last year, I graduated with a degree in nursing from Ryerson University in Toronto and began medical school at the University of Calgary.
As a journalist, I wrote for websites, news outlets and social media. And I enjoy editing just as much as I do writing. With this background, I’ll help to polish your written application, allowing you to reveal the best version of yourself to the admissions committee.
When I applied to medical school, sessions with MedCoach instilled me with confidence. I eventually felt that – through effective coaching – I could convey my passion for medicine into a compelling narrative. As a coach, I can’t wait to help you in this same way, so that you understand your own unique abilities and can persuasively articulate your desire to become a doctor.
Through coaching, I also hope to inspire mature and non-traditional students to pursue their medical school dreams. Like me, you may have taken a few detours on your path to medical school. And like me, you can use the wisdom and experience you’ve gained on those detours to your advantage during interview season.
Nothing beats feeling prepared and relaxed on your interview day, and you can accomplish this with coaching!
I look forward to working with you,
