Dentistry Coach

My name is Shalom! Before dentistry, I completed my Honours Bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences degree at the University of Ottawa in my hometown.
After going through the dentistry application process, I feel as though I have a lot of experience to pass on to others who would wish to realize their dreams of being accepted into their number one schools. I have had the opportunity over the last several years to help a number of people who are now dental and medical students, and thus, MedCoach has allowed me to do that in a larger way.
I always looked at going to the dentist as an exciting experience in my fascination of the technologies being utilized during procedures and had early positive experiences with my family dentist. I have had the goal of becoming a dentist since high school, which was further reinforced with the experiences in dentistry and shadowing I had over the years. I also developed a passion for science and business during my undergraduate education; naturally, dentistry was well suited to nurturing these passions. I also like to play and watch hockey as an Ottawa Senators fan, and enjoy playing soccer, baseball, as well as other sports.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. I will be glad to help

Application experience:

Where did you apply?

  • McGill University
  • University of Toronto
  • Western University
  • Various US Dental Schools

Where did you interview?

Dentistry at University at Buffalo, Case Western University, Detroit Mercy, University of Pennsylvania and NOVA Southeastern University and was accepted to all of them. I also applied to additional schools, but my number one choice (after Canada) was University of Pennsylvania, so I did not attend the other future interviews I was offered.
I also applied to McGill Medicine and Dentistry and was accepted to both programs. My number one choice was McGill Dentistry by far, so I accepted the offer. I had interviews lined up for Western University and University of Toronto, but my acceptance to McGill came before those interviews, so I did not attend them. I am however familiar with the application/interview process of both schools.

Area of Expertise: Written application/personal statement editing, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI), traditional style interviews, panel interviews, CDA style interviews, and application processes for both US and Canadian schools
