Accepted from: BSc
Application experience: Queens, Ottawa, McMaster, U of T, Western, Dalhousie
Interview experience: Western, Ottawa, Toronto
My name is Bena and I’m a medical student at the University of Toronto. Before applying to medical school, I lived in Halifax and Ottawa before moving to Montreal to complete my degree in Psychology at McGill University.
Throughout school, I volunteered with on-campus mental health services, worked as a street paramedic, and became heavily involved in research on schizophrenia and addiction. After graduation, I took a year off to work on clinical trials in geriatric medicine. In my spare time I love to do all things active – especially dance, yoga, and going for hikes. I also love to teach and have spent countless hours working with students as both a teaching assistant and a tutor.
Through my experience applying to medical school, I’ve learned that the key to success is to build confidence through practice, while emphasizing the traits and experiences that make you a unique applicant. I hope to help you identify and highlight your strengths, build interview-ready confidence, and develop strategies to tackle any interview or Casper question. I am also happy to help brainstorm and edit personal statements and essays.
I know how stressful this process is and would love to share the tips and resources that helped me succeed! My interview experience includes UOttawa, Western and U of T. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you as you begin your journey to becoming a physician.
