Hello! I’m Aliceson, a dental student, at McGill University. Prior to beginning my program, I grew up in a small town in New York before completing a B.A. in Honors Biology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Vermont (UVM) in a short three years! I have been in your spot, and I understand how nerve-racking it can be! I was fully prepared to apply to 15 dental schools across the United States and Canada in the 2022-2023 cycle, but I had the opportunity to apply to McGill University in the 2021-2022 cycle and was accepted!

As an international student, the average requirements are typically set much higher than for those in or out of province in Canada, and I felt this immense amount of pressure to succeed. During this time, I leaned on mentors to help me tackle my applications and provide me with the support that I needed, and now I aspire to do that for other people too!

Through my journey, I have gained an understanding of the complexity behind different types of applications. I have extensive knowledge about standard interviews, MMI interviews, CV writing, choosing recommendation letters, maintaining a competitive GPA, and making the most of your extracurricular activities. My goal is to help you put your thoughts and ideas together to prove to the medical or dental faculties that you have the competencies to excel in healthcare!

I have had invaluable experience along the way as an undergraduate researcher, dental assistant, hospital volunteer, residential advisor, MMI tutor, and now a student ambassador for McGill’s Faculty of Dentistry and Oral Health Sciences. All these different roles led me to seek out a position where I could help guide others to apply to and enroll in medical or dental school. But outside of school, my interests range from writing to sports to music. I love spending my free time making new memories with my family and friends through spontaneous adventures! I understand how challenging the application and interview process can be. As a coach, I will make sure that we can work together to find what aspects will make you stand out and shine as an applicant.
