My Bio

Patrick

Second year medical student

Hi!

I’m a third-year medical student at the University of Alberta currently working through my clinical rotations. I have a BSc in general sciences from UBC and several years of experience in cardiac research and manuscript editing. While I am fascinated by all-things science and medicine, my true passion lies in helping others tackle all the various hurdles that lie between them and the future career they are working towards. I greatly admire the time and energy others have invested in me and I aspire to pay it forward, which has resulted in my espousal of various mentorship roles in athletics, research and the medical school admission process.

I am a firm believer that success is most easily achieved once we recognize and leverage our own unique skillsets. In accordance with that, the goal of my sessions will be to identify and emphasize your distinct attributes to highlight you as a unique candidate amidst the applicant pool. In addition to this, I'll provide you with some simplified, yet concrete, approaches to each type of MMI station you'll encounter on your interview day. That being said, I’m a very easy-going, hassle-free person and hope to run our sessions as more of a productive, well-structured conversation than a formal lecture.

My specialties lie in written applications and MMI interviews, specifically for the University of Alberta and University of Calgary. However, I can also provide guidance for other aspects of the application process, such as CASPer and panel interviews.

I hope to see you soon! Best of luck in your studies and applications!

Patrick was very helpful and had great feedback that was adaptive to how I wanted feedback which was super appreciated! He's also very nice and kind and really listened to your responses. He took into consideration your own opinions and thoughts to come up with good feedback.

Patrick is an exceptional coach. I was provided with a general template of his approach to the MMI and through the course of several sessions, tailored it specifically to fit me. He is extremely knowledgeable and insightful on medical related issues as well as what interviewers are potentially looking for. Most important of all, Patrick told me exactly what I needed to hear after each session to keep me motivated and enthusiastic to continue practicing. Thank you Patrick for your help!

I had 4 sessions with Patrick and it had been a great experience, greatly helped my interview skills. He pointed out how I could improve my body language and delivery of answers, something that I would not have thought of. He is a very encouraging coach, prompted me to reflect deeper into myself, helped with how to present my experiences appropriately and with authenticity, all things that proved very useful for MMI personal questions. I would highly recommend Patrick.

What makes Patrick a great coach is that he is helpful, encouraging, kind, and personable! He gives great feedback and you leave the session feeling like a stronger interviewer and gaining more confidence in your capabilities. The questions he comes up with present a good challenge where you can easily learn from them within the safe space he creates. Overall, I highly recommend seeking his guidance!
