My Bio
Tanya
Western (Dent)
Hi! I’m Tanya.
I’m in the Dentistry program at Western.
Since I immigrated with my bachelor’s dental degree from India, I have spent three whole years navigating the complicated medical and dental admissions process in Canada. There are not only all the courses to complete in preparation for exams, but I also found myself juggling exams, work as a dental assistant and interview preparation with very limited time. I know firsthand that communicating well in a work environment doesn’t always translate into interviewing well for college admissions.
I wasn’t a straight-A student, and to be honest, I initially thought I had an unimpressive résumé. However, I learned how to build my application to better highlight my strengths – and even include those strengths I had considered unimportant. I was accepted at universities like Western, Manitoba and waitlisted at McGill.
The guidance from MedCoach truly helped me in the process. If I had to do it over again, I’d rely more on their coaches instead of trying to gather all that information from scratch. The admission process ended up taking a lot of time and effort. As a way to give back to the community, I have been doing freelance coaching with friends and people in my network to help them reach their admission goals. From my own experience, I know that if you have reached this far, you already possess the strengths you need to take you further. I would identify them with you and work towards building on them to give you the confidence and knowledge to face any interview.
