A bit about myself:
I am currently a 4th year medical student at McGill and this is my 4th year coaching for MedCoach. I recently matched to Family Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and will be starting a new journey on July 1st, 2018. I completed my Bachelor of Medical Science degree with an Honours Specialization in Pathology and Toxicology at the University of Western Ontario. I had the opportunity to participate in various leadership opportunities while I was at Western. I also worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a part of one of their school-based programs. I have experience volunteering in a hospital, working closely with orthopedic surgeons and technicians.
The reason why I decided to be a part of MedCoach is because when I was applying for medical school, I had to opportunity to speak with a medical student and did a mock interview with him. This person provided me with so much information, confidence and reassurance that I wasn’t nervous for my interviews anymore! This experience made me want to assist other pre-med students in their journey and share my knowledge.
I applied to McGill medicine as an out-of-province student (originally from Toronto, ON). I applied for medical school during my last year of undergrad and was accepted on my 1st attempt. I applied all over Canada (except Memorial University, NOSM, and University of Manitoba) and interviewed at and was accepted by the University of Western Ontario, McMaster, McGill, and wait-listed by Ottawa U.
I recently completed the CaRMS residency match and matched to Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. I applied broadly in Canada and interviewed at 7 schools. If you have any questions about residency and the application/interview process, I would be happy to answer those too!
