Western (MD & DDS), Toronto (MD & DDS), Queen’s, Dalhousie
My name is Kevin and I have just started my first year of medical school at Western University. I also completed my undergraduate degree at Western in Medical Sciences with an Honors Specialization in Physiology. During my undergrad I participated in the science internship program and did a 14-month research project at Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada.
Aside from academics, I volunteer as a barber for the homeless. This experience has opened my eyes to the health disparities that marginalized individuals face and sparked my interest in the social aspects of medicine. Not only that, but I was able to improve self-esteem and self-efficacy through the haircut and conversation. I hope to carry what I have learned here into my future practice as a physician and be someone that is compassionate, motivational, and appreciative of others suffering, while simultaneously providing treatment for illness and disease.
I joined MedCoach because last year I was in the same spot that many of you may be now. Preparing for interviews can be daunting, especially when you hear about stories of upper years not getting in and having to re-apply. I hope that I can use my experience, skills, and expertise to increase your confidence and interviewing abilities.
If you have any questions, interview related or not, please do not hesitate in contacting me. I can meet in person around Western Campus, or through Skype.
