University of Toronto
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a second year medical student at Memorial University. I have a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree that I completed at Memorial and at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. I have also completed certificate programs in social entrepreneurship and global health. I have wanted to become a physician for as long as I can remember, and after completing my first year of medical education, I can tell you that it’s worth all of the hard work it takes to get here!
Outside of academics, I have always been involved in volunteering and extra-curricular activities, and I truly believe that these aspects of my life are just as important to my professional success as the time that I spent in school. Some of the life lessons that I have learned and been able to apply to clinical practice have come from music, sports, volunteering with underserved populations, and working and travelling abroad. All of these experiences force me out of my comfort zone – just like medical school does every day!
During the fourth year of my undergraduate degree, I interviewed at Memorial, Dalhousie, and University of Toronto, and I was accepted to all three schools. Each school has a very different application and interview process, and I think that my experiences during my application cycle have provided me with the skills to help you reach your full potential.
Each and every one of you has the potential to be an amazing physician, and if you need a little guidance to get there, I’m here to help.
