Coach Bio

Hello everyone! My name is Shirley.

I am a first year Pediatrics resident at the University of Alberta. I completed my medical school training at UBC. Before that, I graduated from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacology.

I did not get into medical school the first time I applied because of a “below average” interview score. I dedicated half a year to practicing MMIs and preparing for interviews for medical school and got into UBC on my second attempt. Recently, I went to 17 MMI interviews across the country for my residency CaRMS match and matched to one of my top choice programs. My abundant experience with MMIs and reflections about the interview process is at your service.

My goal is to help you discover your strengths and deliver the best version of yourself in an eloquent and genuine way on the interview day. I look forward to working together and getting to know each other!

  1. Shirley is AMAZING. I was able to receive very specific feedback and tips from our coaching session. She also was very patient with me as I had difficulty navigating the booking process. She prepared a few questions for me to do mock MMIs which were super helpful. I learned a lot about how I can improve on my answers and delivery. I only wish she had more availability so I can do a few more sessions with her! THANK YOU SHIRLEY <3
