Welcome to the MedCoach CASPer Crash Course Pre-Test!
Thank you for registering!
Prior to watching the course recording, we suggest starting with this pre-test.
Doing this pre-test is not mandatory but is highly recommended prior to the course.
You can come back to this test at any time and do it as many times as you’d like.
Once you submit your answers, your responses will be visible on your course profile page.
Alright, let’s begin!
On the day of the CASPer Test, you will have 90 minutes to go through 14 scenarios. There are two sections to the test.
The video-response section where you will watch or read a scenario and then have two questions to answer on camera, each within 1 minute.
The text-response section where you will watch or read a scenario and then have five minutes to answer 3 questions in typed format
You will have 5 minutes to answer these three questions.
CASPer questions can be broken down into different types.
There are questions that test your personality/opinions and your ability to reflect on yourself.
Ex: Describe a time where you faced a challenge. What did you learn?
There are questions that assess your ability to problem-solve
Ex: How would you approach this scenario?
Ex: What is going through your mind right now?
There are questions that assess your professionalism and ethical instinct.
Ex: Why is it important to maintain confidentiality?
Ex: In this scenario, would you turn your colleague in?
The scenarios can be text-based or video-based.
Video is a bit harder because it really requires you to focus on what is being said in real-time, so you need to stay focused!
Text-based is easier because you can re-read the question and take more time to think about your response.
You may also have a short time to reflect on the question before proceeding to the 5-minute timed questions.
What should you focus on in your answer?
On the main CASPer website, you will see an infographic on the skills they are looking for.
These skills are:
Collaboration
Communication
Empathy
Equity
Ethics
Motivation
Problem Solving
Professionalism
Resilience
Self-awareness
All of these skills are rooted in the key skills that make up a great healthcare professional. We will speak more during the crash course about how we know to look for these skills prior to admission. We will also give you examples of why these skills are important to have in real life. Being able to show your insight into these skills on the CASPer Test will help set you apart from other applicants.
This pre-test will allow you to practice the skill of self-reflection and show you how it might be tested on the real exam.
During the crash course, we will review the question from the pre-test and give examples of some answers and what makes them great.
Keep the skills above in mind when answering your questions!
